Answer:
Yes Tom, the Quran is the compilation of the actual words of Allah as revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)through the messenger Angel, Gibraeel (Gabriel). You see, Tom, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) could not read or write. He recited the words to his companions as soon as they were revealed and they wrote them down. In his lifetime the entire Quran was written down. He checked the writing of the companions by reciting and having them verify it. Shortly after his death all copies were collected, verified and an authentic compilation released to all Muslims. This was done in the time of the first Caliph of Islam, Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (MABP).
